Daddy Boot Camp

June 4th, 2008

I started boot camp for the family.  It has been a great family activity a couple times a week.  I started it because the kids play organized sports except in the summer and it was a good way to get ready for the fall sports.  I keep it short - 30 min.  A few stretches and exercises followed by a run up and down our street.  We have a long street.  Now how do I keep them interested?? With a small twist.  I let each of them run a boot camp session.  We have a few required elements - running, sit ups and push ups.  Even our 4 yr old was excited and participates with his older brothers.  Give it a try with your family.  30 minutes of family fun and fitness.

Portion Sizes

April 10th, 2008

It is not news that obesity is a huge problem in the US.   NY city gained 10 MILLION LBS. in 2 years.  Overweight kids are a real pet peeve of mine.  This is totally the parents responsibility - no excuses.

Portion size has a lot to do with how muck you eat.  Go out to dinner and you not only get fries with everything (especially the kids meal) you also get 2-3 times as much food as you need.

This carries over to meals at home as well.  The solution is simple -  Smaller plates.  Everyone wants to fill the plat with food even for kids.   If you use dinner plates like most the portion sizes are way to much for kids.  Then the parents contribute further by making them eat a little more - “look how much you left on your plate”.

So the answer is simple - smaller plates lead to smaller portions.  Quality of food is obviously left out here - that will be another post.

Several Find A Sitter Sites

March 25th, 2008

Everyone wants to pigeon hole WilluSit as just another Sitter finder. That is why I created the video introduction to help people figure it out fast. SitterCity seems to have the best reviews if you need to find a Sitter.

Alternatively, if you get your friends on WilluSit you can share Sitter list so you don’t have to pay those search services. If you do pay to get the list, enter it into WilluSit and then you can find the one that is available fast.

Let us know if you have any suggestions to get the word out about our service. Please give us any feedback.

Thanks
